Project Summary
Our McFaulds Lake Project is located in the highly prospective Ring of Fire multi metals district in the James Bay lowlands of northern Ontario. With over 117,000 hectares of mineral claims, Noront is the largest exploration claim holder in this exciting new exploration district.
In August 2007, this remote area yielded one of the most exciting drill holes in Canadian history, heralding the discovery of our Eagle's Nest deposit. Since our initial discovery Noront has invested more than $100 million in exploration, resulting in additional discoveries including:
-
The Blackbird chromite deposits,
-
Eagle Two, a nickel, copper discovery,
-
AT-12, a nickel, copper, platinum and palladium discovery,
-
Thunderbird, a vanadium, iron, titanium deposit, and
- The Triple J Gold Zone.
Eagle’s Nest is the most advanced project and we have completed several NI 43-101 reports on the deposit. These reports include 3 resources estimates and two preliminary economic assessment reports. Noront is proceeding with a feasibility study on Eagle’s Nest and has also initiatiated the permitting process through filing a Project Description with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA).
The Blackbird chromites are the second most advanced project and an initial NI 43-101 resource estimate was completed on the Blackbird deposits in December 2009.
The remaining anomolies identified are exceptional exploration targets that we continue to test through drilling, geophysics, and geological modeling. We have contracted some of Canada's leading experts to review and analyze our data. Many of these individuals have worked in and been involved with, some of the most significant Canadian discoveries in the last decade, including: Sudbury, Voisey's Bay, Raglan and Thompson. This process has identified numerous, untested targets within our existing land package that we plan on examining during our future exploration programs.
