Thunderbird
In April 2009, Noront discovered a vanadium, titanium and iron deposit when testing a prominent north-south trending magnetic anomaly approximately 12 kilometres northeast of Eagle's Nest. The anomaly measures seven kilometres along strike and more than three kilometres across.
A total of 7 holes ( approximately 3,000 metres drilling) have tested targets in this region, three holes intersected significant vanadium, titanium and iron mineralization defining an anomaly measuring more than one kilometre along strike. The holes intersected either a single lens measuring more than 100 metres downhole or a double zone measuring several tens of metres down hole. Vanadium grades range from 0.25% to more than 0.50%. Two additional holes were drilled at the extremities of the Thunderbird anamoly. These holes produced similiar iron assays, higher titanium assays but lower vanadium assays.
Thunderbird remains as an active exploration target.
